If we were a pencil, we would want to be Esra’s. There is a calm precision in her line, but also warmth. A tenderness that never tries too hard. Her work slows you down. It reminds you to notice the everyday rituals that shape us and the quiet beauty that lives between them.

Esra is someone we have admired for a long time. Her style caught our attention years ago, but it is how she sees the world that has kept us watching.

Her latest exhibition, Remnants, is a reflection on everyday moments. The kind that unfold quietly around a table, in kitchens, and late at night with friends. At the centre of the exhibition is a pencil drawing of a sink after a party. It holds the traces of something shared, a gathering that has passed but not quite left. We love this piece. It feels like the kind of night you don’t want to end. You can find it here or order your prints at ByHands.

Who is your muse, Esra?

“My muses: my sisters, who are kind, funny and thoughtful, both as people and as parents. I’m also thankful to be surrounded by so many inspiring, smart, creative, independent and fun women in my life. They inspire me greatly on a daily basis, so I guess you could say my friends are my muses.”
